This can be talcum powder (baby powder works great) or cornstarch, and then brush the oil stain away. If the oil stain is recent, you can spray it with a commercial pre-laundry treatment. But if the oil stain is old, you will need to put the stained area face down in paper towel. Blot the stain with solvent. Repeat if necessary but ensure to replace paper towels, as they will undoubtedly be soaked by the offending material. Then you can spray it with the pre-laundry treatment. Wash it with the hottest water possible that you and the cloth can tolerate. After that, check to see if the oil stain is completely removed. If not, you will need to repeat the procedure. Afterwards you can just air dry the clothing.
Generally speaking, as with all stain removal methods, the quicker you act in oil stain removal mode the better results you will likely get. Don’t forget that since water and oil don’t mix, we are after the heat that hot water provides to help break down the stain.
